California born soul but a Utah native, Salt Lake City based DJ, musician, producer, and creative; DITTY, also known as Casey Dittmer, pushes the envelope of production and explores all the corners of the sonic space.
At the age of 20, and with experience as a guitar player and multi-instrumentalist, Dittmer spent his earlier years exploring the production space as a house and psychedelic trance artist. His vision was to take his interest in world music, jazz, EDM, and hip hop and infuse it with electronica to revive the trip hop/jazzstep scene which influenced his direction. Brought up by his father's classic collection of Thievery Corporation, Tosca, Alex Reece, Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, and Nightmares On Wax, among others; this music has always been a vice of relaxation and emotion for Dittmer. Funk and hip-hop grooved also prove to be a monumental working ground for Dittmer, with some of his earliest influences coming from producers like Pete Rock, Dan the Automator, Large Professor, DJ Premier, and Q-Tip. And more notably: Butterfly of Digable Planets, J Dilla of Slum Village, and Thes One of People Under the Stairs, whos artistry mixed downtempo jazz instrumentalism with hip-hop style. Other influences go beyond electronic to the rock scene, with jam bands (ex. Phish, Grateful Dead) and alternative/nü-metal (ex. TOOL, Faith No More, Deftones, Slipknot, Chevelle, Limp Bizkit) being heavily influential to him as an artist. As a producer, Dittmer hopes to work with other artists to establish a unique, clean sound and boost success of collaborators.
After years of work, in 2025, he has established the musical texture he has been searching for, and looks to upstart his career in new directions. Infusing creativity with inspiration of spirituality; and fusing electronica with world music, lo-fi, breaks, IDM, D&B, chillout, dub reggae, jazz, and more; DITTY delivers those loungeful, classic downtempo trip hop and lo-fi bassy jazzstep sounds of the 90s that will knock your mind back into a recliner.
